"On Wednesday, October 4, 2023, at 2:20P.M. Est/12:20P.M. MST, a nationwide teste of the Emergency Alert System will take place. All cellphones will broadcast a loud, blaring sound, like an Amber Alert, then display a text message with additional information. This could be a safety concern for survivors who have 'secret' phones that they are trying to hide from abusers. To prevent this, and any local or national alerts, from sounding, phones can be powered off, turned into airplane mode, or they can be turned off in the phone's settings, if an option is available to do so."
