24.10.2025 20:38 β π 0 π 0 π¬ 1 π 0LaTeX is like the horse. Then along came Henry Ford and invented the automobile. Fortunately this did not deter mister Ford from fundamentally improving transportation across the planet. Therefore let us boldy go ahead with Typst and not be deterred by the LaTeX crowd.
20.10.2025 20:52 β π 0 π 0 π¬ 1 π 0So can or cannot Typst do that?
17.10.2025 21:54 β π 0 π 0 π¬ 2 π 0You're not reading the available information correctly and sharing misinformation about Typst. Like LaTeX, one downloads the Typst compiler. There are also multiple free GUI Typst editors available.
06.10.2025 21:30 β π 0 π 0 π¬ 1 π 0Yes you should not only check it out again, you might also consider posting your question at the Typst Forum forum.typst.app
28.09.2025 21:48 β π 0 π 0 π¬ 0 π 0It seems to me that perhaps we need a new subreddit entitled "Typst versus LaTeX", a kind, gentle place where people are free, welcome and invited to share their opinions and experiences with Typst versus LaTeX.
26.09.2025 21:54 β π 0 π 0 π¬ 0 π 0tdf is awesome. I use it with the Kitty terminal emulator
08.07.2025 20:03 β π 1 π 0 π¬ 0 π 0The latest build requires GLIBC 2.39 so it won't run on older systems such as PopOS 22.04 with GLIBC 2.35. Such a shame.

I use Typst BTW.
Example please? Fenced code with the three backticmarks works fine here.
27.05.2025 20:41 β π 0 π 0 π¬ 1 π 0Dafuk. Aren't you the guy who wrote Microsoft Word Must Die? So why are you are still using it after all this time?
25.05.2025 21:25 β π 0 π 0 π¬ 1 π 01. Write in Typst
2. Convert Typst to HTML with Pandoc
3. Push to web server
But Ulysses is also subscription-ware, proprietary and has no Linux edition.
21.05.2025 21:13 β π 0 π 0 π¬ 1 π 0Why not scan those journal pages before shredding them, then later on you can run them through ChataGPT, which is good at recognizing handwriting, and save the result as Markdown. Then pass that to your family.

15.05.2025 20:59 β π 0 π 0 π¬ 0 π 0Thanks for raising awareness about mitex. This Typst package is new to me and a welcome addition to my Typst tool chest.
12.05.2025 21:24 β π 1 π 0 π¬ 0 π 0As Atlassian grew, the bean counters took over the place. The inevitable enshittification followed. It's now all about the bottom line, not all about the users. For other examples see Adobe, Hewlett-Packard and Oracle.
08.05.2025 22:39 β π 0 π 0 π¬ 0 π 0This is a very nice editor for writing and previewing Typst documents. Thanks for sharing this. Installation is easy:
1. flatpak install flathub app.drey.Typewriter
2. Launch Flatseal and allow Typewriter to access all use files
3. Start a new project leveraging the template library
LaTeX: Old, therefore good.
Typst: New, therefore better.
What an amazing and fascinating application of typography. Thanks for sharing all of this work, and for the top-notch documentation that accompanies it.

02.05.2025 22:28 β π 1 π 0 π¬ 0 π 0So escape the offending character. Want to start a line with a plus sign, type \+ and you see only the + sign.
30.04.2025 20:48 β π 0 π 0 π¬ 1 π 0Thanks for sharing this and especially for shining light on Typst.
27.04.2025 21:42 β π 0 π 0 π¬ 0 π 0Perhaps you should go outside and make some friends.
Why?
Because friends don't let friends use fsck-ing Google Docs.
Look to Pandoc
24.04.2025 20:52 β π 0 π 0 π¬ 1 π 0Agreed. Necessity is the mother of invention. When I'm faced with "you can't do that" in whatever context, I'm like "Oh yeah?" and innovate a solution.
14.04.2025 19:09 β π 1 π 0 π¬ 1 π 0If there's no Linux edition it's a no go.
If there's no local-first solution it's a no go.
If it's subscriptionware it's a no go.
If it's not open source it's a no go.
