A quote from Christine Cyr Clisset, co-host of “The Wirecutter Show”: “A lot of devices in our homes that we may not think of as smart devices are actually collecting quite a lot of data and it’s pretty up in the air about what’s actually happening with this data.”

A quote from Christine Cyr Clisset, co-host of “The Wirecutter Show”: “A lot of devices in our homes that we may not think of as smart devices are actually collecting quite a lot of data and it’s pretty up in the air about what’s actually happening with this data.”

If you’ve ever suspected your smart devices are spying on you, you’re right. Even everyday devices you may not consider "smart" are monitoring you. This is how your data is being collected and sold—and how to protect yourself. nyti.ms/414EKyA

I suppose that one can review more articles using AI and build a "better" academic CV.

Jack Symes points out that #politicslive hasn't covered Gaza for 2 weeks & it was going to be covered today but that got dumped & they're discussing Thatchers legacy instead

The legal base for her conviction is something she fought for years ago. Now that its consequences came knocking on her door she wants to keep it shut? She definitly had it coming.

Those trying to understand the tariffs as economic policy are dangerously naive.

No, the tariffs are a tool to collapse our democracy. A means to compel loyalty from every business that will need to petition Trump for relief.

I only wish it's only 4 years in office. Dictators do tend to find ways to prolong their mandate. Maybe that could be something of beginning of a philosophical discussion.

Three men sit at a table.

At left, a destitute man sits with no plate.

At right, a working man sits with a plate containing one cookie, listening to the man in the center.

Sitting in the center is an old man in a business suit (looking suspiciously like right-wing media tycoon Rupert Murdoch) who is pointing at the destitute man, while speaking to the working man, saying:

"Careful Mate... that foreigner wants your cookie!"

Sitting in front of the man at center is his own plate, which contains MANY MANY COOKIES.

Time for my annual repost of this banger by Australian artist Denis Lushch.

Ever-more relevant with each new horrible year.

Concordo. O livro é bastante revelador. A meu ver, um dos pontos altos foi saber quem, na altura, se associou a essa Sociedade, como Karl Popper.

A Toast To The Old You: If you feel inspired to use the new year to help you reset or change habits: great.

And yet, the old you has survived every terrible day, every hard thing, every awful circumstance, and every heartbreak you've ever felt.

The old you is a fighter. And that's worth celebrating.

I feel this deeply. It's okay to aspire to be a better version of yourself.

But that better version of yourself might paradoxically lead you to accept the flaws of your past in ways you couldn't back then.

Maybe now you can quietly appreciate how you always had the capacity to survive & persevere.
