I'm watching a TV show with a depiction of tinnitus. The personal pitch through my left ear is a slightly detuned tritone higher, so that's absolutely infuriating!

On the other hand I once did a gig with a N London orchestra where the only piece I was playing in was (I think) the Butterworth Shropshire Lad Rhapsody. Thankfully it was first in the programme and I was sitting in the car by 7:45, with the fee in my pocket having slipped out of a back door!

I've always considered that gigs fall into 3 categories: well paid, fun, or spiritually rewarding. Occasionally the Venn diagramme is a perfect circle...

I've been that tuba player, if the price is right I'll sit there all evening with a smile on my face until it's time to play!

I haven't slept properly in weeks despite taking prescribed sleeping tablets. I'm incredibly exhausted and just want more than 2-3 hours per night. Or about 24+ hours of it in one go...

I don't think I've ever sightread a more challenging programme of music than I did today for the Advent Carol Service at @stmichaelbarnes.bsky.social. This means I'm both utterly exhausted and can't sleep. Beautifully sung by an excellent choir.

I have two cats. One categorically won't sit on my lap but is glued to my side and slow blinking at me. The other is obsessed with being on my lap and gets incredibly jealous of the other being too close to me. I'm warm so I don't really mind!

I'm conflicted about the Assisted Dying bill, I can see the pragmatic side of things but I worry about the possibility of coercion, abuse, and scope creep. I've seen assisted death (huge doses of morphine) in the flesh in a war setting and those deaths, while probably kind, were far from beautiful.
