Inconvenient Indian author Thomas King says he is not part Cherokee Writer β€˜still in shock’ after a whistle-blowing organization showed him genealogical evidence that he wasn’t part Indigenous as he originally assumed

The open secret that Thomas King is not Indigenous at all is finally verified, and honestly it's a relief. Having him just confess this instead of going out kicking and screaming like so many before him causes a LOT less harm to Indigenous communities.

It still sucks though.

Stack of blocks labeled, all modern digital infrastructure. A ratchet tipping over the entire stack is labeled AI. A load bearing pillar is labeled unpaid open source development. Another label is AWS, and Cloudflare and Unpaid Open Source Developers.

Extremely upset that a throw-away XKCD joke somehow became the organizing principle for the Internet.

They’re going to increase fees at community centres and I think in spite of what they say libraries will lose some services. Service will suffer. I’m happy to pay taxes to support jobs and programs and to speak to a human about a problem. I don’t want to interact w AI bullshit.
