I scored 11/28 on jsdate.wtf and all I got was this lousy text to share on social media.
I'm okay with this because I hate JavaScript anyway. C#'s DateTime is annoying too though. Never again will I use anything other than DateTimeOffset and if it has to be serialized, format it in ISO 8601

Vibe Coding Against Critical Infrastructure
The security model for critical infrastructure has always been obscurity: everything is bespoke, the documentation is garbage or paper-only, and the one engineer who knows how it all works is retiring...
to restate my thesis: the danger is: frontier models + agentic loops + malicious persona basins + swarming attacks. At scale, it doesn't matter if the success rate is 1/20 or 1/100, that's still enough to cause serious harm.

Judge Quraishi says that if ICE keeps arresting people and detaining them without bond under the legal theory that has been rejected by hundreds of judges, and any of those cases come across his bench, he'll immediately order DHS and DOJ personnel hauled into court to explain themselves.

Gawain the green knight opening a letter sealed with wax
Little Alex Horne in his studio chair with the caption "so a simple task: land a fair blow anywhere on the green knight. One year later meet him at the green chapel, receive the same blow yourself."
A cut to a wider shot showing Greg Davies in his throne turning to Little Alex Horne subtitled "Well surely no one just ran up and whanged his head clean off."
Cut back to Little Alex Horne subtitled "Let's see Gawain first."
Looks like the original has been swept away by the sands of time.

Rufo practically founded the current moment. He promoted the practice of lying to make progressives look crazy. He eagerly encouraged everybody to act in bad faith in service to the culture war. When faced with a choice between the truth and himself he'll choose himself every time.

I get it though, the explanatory value is not enough to justify the effort probably

There was a rash of versions that were sycophantic and the programmers are trying to correct for that.
Not disagreeing with you, my point here is mostly that it's the humans in control that should shoulder the blame rather than the programs themselves.

When the Nazis and Communists first came to Czechoslovakia, they declared war on pornographers and perverts. Everyone applauded: who wants perverts running through the streets? But then, suddenly, Jesus Christ was a pervert, Shakespeare was a pervert, Hemingway was a pervert. It always starts with pornographers to open the door a little, but then the door is opened wide for all kinds of persecution.

Butβ¦ isnβt that still really bad? That the incentive system for large companies is such that the default outcome when attention lapses is that slop falls out into public view?
Never in my life have I seen a company reduce the pressure on its employees. This will keep happening.

Book cover of "Designing Data-Intensive Applications, 2nd edition". It has a similar wild boar on the cover as the first edition, but it uses O'Reilly's new cover design, and the boar is now slightly colourised.
The second edition of Designing Data-Intensive Applications, by myself and @chris.blue, is finished and sent off to the printers! Ebooks should be available in the next week, and print books in 3β4 weeks. Sigh of relief. π

Screenshot of a CNN segment shared by Acyn. A split-screen shows commentator Lydia Moynihan on the left and Kevin OβLeary on the right during a heated exchange. The chyron reads, βObama: Dems need to avoid scolding and βvirtue-signaling.ββ The post quotes OβLeary referencing China and concentration camps, and McGowan responding about West Virginia.
I spent my childhood inside of American concentration camps. I know one when I see one. And that is what ICE is building.

Abrams isn't a man so much as he's an avatar of cultural entropy. If you make something popular enough eventually you will die or sell it off and and a person in thick rimmed glasses whose main artistic vision is that he loves to have meetings will take it and sandblast it until it's nothing. I hate to see this happen here but maybe it's good that this happened. Maybe every franchise should collapse into a version of itself that makes shareholders nod and shake each others' hands. We should learn to speak in a language that rich people who don't dream can't comprehend.
