Not a huge amount. If you can understand the one dimensional versions of Bayes' Theorem (ideally continuous and discrete) and the fact that the analysis yields a distribution and not a point estimate, then that will carry you a long way

It depends what you want to get out of it. I usually just read parts of a text book that relate to what I'm interested in at the time

Obviously this is not desirable or safe, so no grant.
