I wish these pieces would call out CHD more, RFK didn't get where he is alone.

I mean, they expressly said hypothesis generation was independent. Would you prefer a Pubmed query string?

By the by, CDC style guide uses epidemiologic not epidemiological. Also I just glanced but this was county areal data?

It's quite a time when NEJM is dropping a primary measles case presentation in their latest issue.

Time to handle the new reality it looks like.

I honestly don't even really understand the point to this list, you could get a full PhD on just surveillance. And SER just lumps disease dynamics in like it's a blip.

Don't suppose you have anything around teaching something like intro to epi in the age of genAI?

I thought NIOSH was basically shuttered then forced to rehire. Leadership there never changed?

RFK has said in interviews that his zealotry largely comes from his past and current dealings with addiction. I get not alienating vulnerable communities but those are his words.

We have posted data providing real-time measurement of human neutralizing antibody landscape to seasonal influenza.

Data explain spread of subclades K (H3N2) & D.3.1.1 (H1N1), identify subclade K subvariants w reduced neutralization, & can inform choice of strains for next vaccine.

Mine, too.

"This happens for the simple reason that one must be lucky twice."

"Increasingly, many of these factors are captured in a Bayesian (as opposed to frequentist) interpretation of trials..."

"Lowering capital costs ... lofty and rising drug prices for everyday Americans."

It wasn't "replication is lucky twice" and Bayes will save all the moneys?

Yeah but really this just touches on the elephant in the room regarding doctor shortages and burnout. I get people are suspicious but what's the alternative? More unbilled time consuming work for the doctor? Ultimately, I think notes are better with the software but yes, restraints are needed.

If it was something like DAX then it's only a draft that the clinician has to review and transfer to the EHR. I'm not really aware of one that directly writes to the record but it's a new space.

Seems like quite a lot of context is missing. Would you object to proprietary dictation software? Was it a summary transcription for review or directly inserted into the encounter note? Is it something the PCP should remember? Was/could it be billable?

Those are reported cases so it's likely missing many actual infections but that's the case for every surveillance system. Politics-wise, I was an epidemiologist in South Carolina and Dr. Bell is a strict professional and I'd be extremely surprised if she were to be swayed.
