The first casualties of Iran were not combat military. They were not engaged in combat. They were reservists minding their own business and they were randomly in the wrong place and time. Once you don that uniform - you are a target for America's growing enemies.

Modern warfare is asymetric and has no boundaries. IED's blow up supply convoys. Drones, mortars, missiles and other long range weapons can strike anywhere anytime. In fact - it's 'soft' targets like barracks, hospitals and supply depots that make for the easiest casualties.
