National parks deserve real support, not just press releases and political posturing.

On BlueSky, @protectparks.bsky.social follows accounts like Indivisible, AOC, ALT-NPS, and More Perfect Union.

It's worth asking: is this a conservation group or a political advocacy machine?

Oh, and 99.65% of @protectparks.bsky.social employee donations in the 2024 cycle went to Democratic campaigns.

Their CEO personally donated to Kamala Harris' presidential campaign.

If you're donating to @protectparks.bsky.social thinking it's going straight to Yosemite or Yellowstone, you might want to check the receipts.

@protectparks.bsky.social spent $750,000 lobbying Congress in 2024, and nearly $400,000 more in 2025.

But how much of that is helping rangers, visitors, or the parks themselves? Are they advocating for reopening the government, doesn't seem like it.

@protectparks.bsky.social CEO made $534,246 last year. That's roughly 800 percent higher than the average American's salary.

And yet, during a shutdown, we're not seeing much "conservation" from the conservationists.

In 2023, @protectparks.bsky.social gave just $591,500 in grants to the National Park Foundation, that's 1.2% of the Foundation's total expenditures. 

Meanwhile, NPCA spent over $19.9 million on payroll. Priorities? Very clearly, not our national parks.

While our national parks face closures and staff furloughs during the shutdown, let's talk about the National Parks Conservation Association @protectparks.bsky.social, the group that claims to be "the voice of America's national parks."
