If you too have read and enjoyed “Through the Machine” I’d be honored if you kept it in mind for awards. SFWA members can also upvote it on the Nebula list here (upvoting still seems to be working despite the other forum tech issues): www.sfwa.org/forum/readin...

If you can read Spanish, I hope you like Sofón, Issue 1. It includes 17 SFF short stories and poems in Spanish, which I really enjoyed reading, editing, and putting together. Sofón is the third speculative fiction magazine from Mexico that pays its authors. I also did the cover art ^u^

"It is very hard to say how much of my output I sell, because I continue marketing things for a long time - I once sold a story (I won't tell you the title, so don't ask) on the 38th submission. I have written three novels I am no longer marketing, so that is a considerable body of work which will remain unpublished. One is very bad, one fair, one, I think, good but badly dated as to content. If my present output I would say that I sell 80%. Yes, I would like to write full time, and will do it when I feel I can support myself and my family that way.

Success stories/wins are great, but you know what I enjoy? Top tier writers talking about the grind. This is Gene Wolfe in a 1973 interview w/Malcolm Edwards (reprint in Shadows of the New Sun ed. Peter Wright) when he was on the upswing after writing Fifth Head. Selling a story on a 38th sub damn 🫠

After several weeks, I just finished writing my first poem. 489 words. It’s about consciousness, the universe, dissociation, death, love, and some ideas from analytic idealism that I deeply share. I hope it resonates with people.

Neanderthals Ran “Fat Factories” 125,000 Years Ago Fat is a very valuable food component, packed with calories, especially important when other resources might be scarce. Our earliest ancestors in Africa already cracked open bones to extract the fatty marrow from bone cavities. But now a new study published in Science Advances demonstrates that our…

"At this location, researchers found that Neanderthals not only broke bones to extract marrow but also crushed large mammal bones into tens of thousands of fragments to render calorie-rich bone grease through heating them in water."
