The St. Lawrence Writer’s Festival in Brockville, Ontario was a dream. I’m still reeling with gratitude over being invited to the inaugural event as a part of the poetry panel with Stuart Ross and Gary Barwin.

This picture was taken in 2012. I’m standing in a hospital hallway with my daughter on my hip. My son is standing across from me. He is a toddler holding a ribbon attached to a large yellow balloon.

We are visiting my Uncle Harv in palliative care. This is the last time I saw him.
