Not a dig at any reporter at all, but I encourage outlets to use detention population numbers as reported by DetentionReports.com instead of those reported by ICE.
To be clear, the facility-by-facility detainee numbers that ICE releases are not erroneous, just misleadingly out of date.
72% of Americans support a path to citizenship for undocumented immigrants already here. That includes majorities of Trump's own voters. Congress has bipartisan bills ready. The public is not the obstacle.

Today, our aircraft spotted a boat in distress with ~40 people on board. What followed was NOT a rescue. A Frontex aircraft was already on scene, complicit β from above β in an interception by the so-called Libyan coastguard.

One of the core findings of my book was around how models which were intended to support legal practitioners in helping their clients to show that they are, for example, a gay man were actually often working as a reason for refusal.

One survivor told the inquiry that they were treated differently because they were refugees. This led to delays in the search and rescue mission.
This is yet another tragic example of why racialised assumptions and racist rhetoric is so dangerous β it costs lives.

Systemic failures, missed opportunities to act, and chronic under-resourcing undermined search and rescue, leading to men, women, and children dying in the Channel. The findings of the Cranston Inquiry are truly devastating.
