Well done! Hopefully more arrive so I can get in the action. Back in Lothian on Wednesday…

14/15 Puffins I saw washed up today were adults. These Easterlies just make feeding too difficult for them

A lot of Puffins washing ashore in Lothian as well. I had 15 today as well as a few other things

Still SE. I was near Lower Largo which is probably more sheltered. Would be interesting to see the number of washed up birds in areas near Fife Ness etc

I was in Fife a couple days ago and the swell and winds along the coast in East Lothian were much worse.

Someone has picked it up. It was too heavy for me to carry the rest of the coastline and I am travelling back on a train so a dead diver wouldn’t look so great!

Today I walked from Tyninghame Beach to North Berwick to count the number of seabirds that have washed ashore in this harsh weather. Hopefully this weather ends soon to give these birds a break.

It was a right surprise to find this White-billed Diver on the beach.

A brilliant trip to Fife today by bus despite the grim weather.

I started on the coast with highlights being WW Scoter, WB and BT Diver, RN Grebe, the possible Stejneger’s Scoter, Little Gull and more!

I then went inland to Kingskettle to see the 5 Whitefronts.

A nice afternoon in Glasgow seeing some of the wintering wildfowl.

The drake Ring-necked Duck showed fantastically on Queen’s Park boating pond.

The drake American Wigeon was more difficult to locate but eventually showed at Newshot Island. Also Scaup, LTD and Shoveler there.

What an amazing year 2025 was! So many great trips and birds. My personal highlights being finding 3 BBRC birds, a fantastic trip to Peru and the stunning Rubythroat at the end of an amazing autumn on North Ronaldsay.

It all kicked off yesterday afternoon on North Ron with a Radde’s Warbler trapped at the obs! And then a Northern Bullfinch caught at HH

I didn’t think it could get any better until Alison and I found this Black-throated Thrush in a net during the roost catch!

Pallas’s Warbler on North Ronaldsay today!

Amazing to see it only a few metres from me. It was constantly feeding and barely stayed in the same place.

Thanks to Maddy for yet another good find.

Brilliant day again on North Ronaldsay.

Obvious highlight being my first Scottish Firecrest. Hopping metres away from me.

Other highlights being Siberian Chiffchaff and a few more common migrants. Looking good for the next few days. 🀞
