Namibia - Wildlife
I cannot remember why, but when I published my original video from our trip to #Namibia back in 2018, I only did it in HD, I have just reworked it to 4k (it was shot in 4k afterall) - without music this time, just the sounds of the African bush. #Africa #safari

A little bit of extreme distance video of the Bufflehead at Llyn Coron on #Anglesey from this weekend. Not sure what caused it to jump, someone suggested a fish nibbled its toes. #birdingWales

Possible Ctenophora flaveolata cranefly. Taken in Trefriw, North Wales.
Just uploaded a record to Cofnod from May 2013!
I've been sorting through old photos and came across a cranefly image that I had not identified - ran it through Google's image search and it came up with Ctenophora flaveolata, which could be notable. Waiting for confirmation. π€

We assisted Cornwall Wildlife Trust with Cornwallβs first licensed wild beaver release yesterday! Four pairs have been released after three years of planning and consultation. The beavers will help to restore waterways, improve biodiversity, and increase climate resilience. [1/3]

Beddmanarch Bay on #anglesey today. Weather was awful, but managed to get GND, Slavonian Grebe, Pale Bellied Brent (with on Dark Bellied amongst them) Grey Plover and a very showy Kingfisher. And a great coffee to warm up in the βnewβ cafe. #birdingWales

Just missed out on hitting 100 bird species in January at 98 species. Tbh, I wasnβt trying very hard. A few auks and gannets , plus quite a few grey seals, and nice to add porpoise to the mammal list today on a trip around the #GreatOrme. #birdingWales

A tiny snail that almost ended up as dinner.
Just grabbed a couple of handfuls of rocket from the garden for dinner. Good job I checked it thoroughly, look who was snoozing in my food. Heβs been put safely back in the garden. #growyourown

A Jay is holding an acorn in its bill as it stands on grass covered in patches of frozen snow.
16 years, 9 months and 9 days is the record for the oldest Jay in Britain & Ireland!
The bird was ringed as an adult in Skelton, York in September 1966, but sadly, it was killed by a car in the same spot 16 years later.

Beach on Llanddwyn Island, Anglesey.
Fantastic day again on #anglesey at #Newborough and #LlanddwynIsland. Not often at this time of year you βneedβ to take your coat off. New for the year were Crossbill, Purple Sandpiper, Shag, GSW, Coal Tit. Apparently my wife had the opposite over in Talacre where it rained all day. #birdingWales

An African lion licking her face at a buffalo kill in South Luangwa, Zambia. Blood and stomach contents are all over her face.
This was an amazing encounter from 2005 in South Luangwa, #Zambia. A pride of lions had made a kill that morning - that is blood and "stomach contents" all over this lion's face. #lion #Africa #SouthLuangaw #RoadTrip

This is not a model. This is a "fossilised" taxidermy of a Woolly Rhino, discovered in Starunia mine in Carpathian Poland (now Ukraine) in 1929. Dating to the Pleistocene, its exquisite preservation is owed to a mixture of brine, oil and clays. π§΅

The AI assistant on my words-writing program of choice has just suggested it might help me with 'planning a schedule for a seven-day hike in the Appalachians'. I mean what are the chances you're going to go 'yes! That's exactly what I sat down to do!'

Snow baths for both Ravens today. Iβm sure if I watched other birds as closely Iβd see how they all have amazing characters, but Ravens do seem special! I wonder, if more people saw what fun, affectionate characters birds are they would care more about them and their habitats.

Red Diesel Vodka label - part of the merchandising we did for the launch of the PlayStation game Krazy Ivan.
Sorry Huw! This was my colleague Huw Thomas, we set up Fathom together. Here he was posing for a photo that I took from our office window in Manchester to promote a game (I forget which one now - there were a lot and most of them involved guns!!) on the corner of Ducie Street.
Random designs
Posters for the game launch of Twin Caliber - there was a really interesting story around those fake guns. I may tell it one day.

Foff - distressed F design. All fonts here are my own.
!Attention - font design with background sun-burst that has been one of my running themes throughout my career, it pops up multiple times, and I still use it today.
Crusher - An early delve into 3D modelling. Mixed with random graphics.
Fathom Poster Design - myself and a colleague set up a company in Manchester towards the end of the 90s called Fathom. This was one of a set of 4 promotional posters we designed and printed, I still have the originals somewhere.
I just stumbled across a folder full of some random designs I did probably more than 20 years ago - I was heavily involved in the games industry back then. Fun times.
There are elements that I developed back then that I still use now, one is very obvious. #graphicdesign #design

Really nice work. I worked on the animated sequences for that exhibit, many years ago now. I built the models, a colleague did the animation (back then I didn't get involved in the animation). I have never actually seen it in the flesh (as with most of the projects I work on)!
