yes, we need to confiscate and tax as much income as we can from billionaires and millionaires and give working people a break, but democrats need to reclaim the idea of taxation as a civic good. the things we all benefit from — schools, roads, libraries, etc. — are paid for with taxes.

Her vote aside, among white people across the political spectrum, it IS taboo to talk openly about their politics.

This is a grift designed to maintain white supremacy across political divide. To keep them communing along whiteness with their enemies & ideological opponents.

“We don’t need to do this again. Today’s teens don’t need to grow up in a world marred by war, where their classmates and siblings are forced to fight un-winnable fights with the fear that if things carry on, they’ll be forced to serve, too.”

In a movie punctuated with intense emotive moments, this is one is devastatingly quiet.

Rewatching HAMNET.

The shot when Jacobi Jupe comforts his ailing sister, breaks the fourth wall and whispers “It’s here. Do you see it Jude?” It implicates us, the audience, as DEATH.

It hits so incredibly hard – as we spread death around the globe, as we sentence so many children to death.

Not the person collecting signatures for Maura Healey today trying to *shame me* for not signing: “So what, are you with Trump then?”

Ma’am, I was with *Sonia Chang-Díaz* because we knew Maura didn’t have the backbone for these times.

People in Tehran are breathing toxic air. Villagers have lost their potable water supply. A school full of girls are dead and buried. All while the Secretary of Defense continually boasts of eliminating restrictive rules of engagement. Hard to ignore the connection.

Absolutely.

That path is shrinking every year for the majority of kids in this country.

Privatization, budget cuts, and “education reformers” who buy a liberal arts education for their own kids while narrowing the curriculum for everyone else.

Remember: this is the education that America’s elites ensure for their OWN kids.

They strip the humanities & arts from public schools, proclaim a crisis to push endless testing and a diminished, “career-ready” education for everyone else’s kids.

They’re raising citizens & want you to raise drones.

We’ve known for 15+ years that teens need later school start times, but most school systems ignored this fact because it would
be inconvenient for the transportation schedule and after-school care for younger siblings.

Jan ‘21 a neighbor tried tapping their maple trees as a COVID experiment, and needed helpers to keep up with the amount of sap they produced.

I sugared a bunch on an outdoor burner and the ratio of sap:syrup truly is incredible.

Facebook post by Boston Public Schools with images of high school students on safari.

“Boston Latin School and Association students participated in a life-changing trip to Nairobi, Kenya last month during February Recess.
Fourteen Boston Latin School students visited several learning sites, including Nairobi National Park, Amboseli National Park, Tsavo West National Park, and the southeastern city of Mombasa. Much more than a vacation, students also practiced their Swahili language skills, experienced cultural immersion through a visit with the Maasai people, and learned first-hand about environmental conservation.
By encouraging students to partake in trips like these, we ensure learning extends beyond the classroom into the far reaches of the globe.

So, @bostonschools.boston.gov, how many students from any OTHER Boston Public Schools schools get to travel to Nairobi?

Just the ones with an $85M endowment?

BREAKING: DC Circuit, on a 2-1 vote, keeps in place a lower court order blocking DHS Sec. Noem’s effort to end Haiti temporary protected status designation.

Judges Pan and Garcia deny DOJ’s request to stay the district court order. Judge Walker would have granted it.

Haiti TPS is safe for now.

Rewatched One Battle After Another, this time with the kids.

Its flaws are pretty glaring, but man – that second act is really something all on its own.

Another all-time performance by Benicio Del Toro.

Other than that, the fleece vest wardrobe for the white nationalists is just perfect.

DOD “unshackled” strikes from the rules of engagement and AI suggested the targets.

Worth noting that SECDEF — KNOWING this — came out yesterday and gave a speech about raining death and destruction down from the sky with the aid of loosened rules of engagement. “Punching them when they’re down.”

Murdering kids at school.

“Never meant to be a fair fight” indeed.
