The case against Christopher Schurr, who is charged with second-degree murder in the April 4, 2022, death of Patrick Lyoya, is now expected to be scheduled for trial.
In June 2022, Grand Rapids Police officer Christopher Schurr was charged with second-degree murder in the shooting of Patrick Lyoya, a Black man who immigrated to Michigan from Congo.
More than two years later, his case has yet to go to trial.
