I would have listened to it in one sitting if I didn't have the human weakness of 'needing sleep'.The characters were written so well. Our three main characters have very different storylines but Martin perfectly showcases their different lived experiences. The timeline starts when they are children and describes the events leading up to and after WWII. When the dates are dropped and you as a reader can see the time creeping ever closer to 1939, it made me feel so nervous for our characters. No spoilers but there were a couple of name drops that made me gasp out loud. The story of their lives and how they diverge, while still keeping 'A Promise' was beautiful. I will be recommending this to everyone and anyone. #historicalfiction #audiobook #reading #books@netgalley
