If the opportunity presents itself, I highly recommend riding between Pittsburgh and DC on the Great Allegheny Passage and Chesapeake & Ohio Canal. It's 335 miles total, and I've seen riders of all levels do it. You can definitely tailor your trip to your daily mileage and capability!
