Text that reads, Rev. David Black, Pastor, 1st Presbyterian Chicago: "I extended my arms, palms outreached towards the ICE officers, in a traditional Christian posture of prayer and blessing. Without any warning [...] I was fired upon by ICE officers. In rapid fire I was hit 7 times on my arms, face, and torso with exploding pellets that contained some kind of chemical agent. It was clear to me that the officers were aiming for my head, which they struck twice." Below that, a photograph of that very scene: ICE officers in military fatigues and obscuring masks fire point- blank at a clergyman in traditional clerical garb. Rev. Black's face is contoured in pain as the photograph captures him mid-fall.

You may as well get used to seeing this picture everywhere. It will be in history books, on t-shirts, album covers, protest signs. There is a clear villain and a clear victim and if you have any trouble whatsoever sorting those out then perhaps it's time to sort out your conscience.

If you're sitting around waiting to be Raptured, it's because you're lazy and you want God to solve all your problems for you. You're not willing to do the work that real prayer and real faith requires. You want to be a martyr without the trouble of dying.

Every protest, every lawsuit, every joke at their expense is a threat. They want everyone to give up and just let them do whatever they want. They want complete and total surrender without a fight forever.

They have control over the levers of power, but they don't have the culture. They're not cool. They want to be loved, and they equate criticism with treason. They've "got" everything, but they also want to make sure that there's no mechanism for them to lose it.

In his opening monologue on Monday, Mr. Kimmel had addressed the killing of Mr. Kirk by saying: “We hit some new lows over the weekend with the MAGA gang desperately trying to characterize this kid who murdered Charlie Kirk as anything other than one of them, and doing everything they can to score political points from it.”

Good headline: "ABC bows to government pressure to pull Jimmy Kimmel off air ‘indefinitely’"

Kimmel did not criticize Kirk. He said his death was being exploited and implied the killer was pro MAGA

Becoming increasingly clear we’re gonna have to build a parallel infrastructure for all the media we really love. The reason all of this is happening under the color of law is hyperconsolidation, dissent being traded straight up for merger approval, or fear of harassment.

Not really an overstatement to say that the test of a free society is whether or not comedians can make fun of the country's leader on TV without repurcussions.
