Out with the #EastbourneDownland volunteers today helping to manage the scrub at Shooters Botto. This will enable cattle/ ponies to break up the large scrub patches and graze the more open areas of chalk grassland. lovely spring day. Skylarks dining & common lizard seen running over an open area.

Had a nice day at Pulborough Brooks today - total of 47 species of birds seen/heard today. Plenty of ducks and geese, a Peregrine and Red Kite hunting and a singing (overwintering) Chiffchaff. Plus Scarlet elf cup fungi and flowering Primrose.

Our first visit to Mill Hill LNR near Shoreham today. We helped some local volunteers remove cotoneaster, privet and hawthorn to restore the chalk grassland which has declined in quality in recent years to be able to support typical chalk grassland butterflies.
