Today's joy as I was picking up kids for after school, I overheard a conversation
Both are 11 years old.

Being honest and transparent, today was emotionally exhausting and a bit frustrating. But one thing I promised to myself was that I would find the joy in every day...even the hard ones. Today's joy... I feel deeply honored to have been part of the See The Girl Luncheon today. I had the privilege of reading the poetry of a woman currently incarcerated and facing 15 years. On Wednesday, I had the chance to meet her in person and ask her permission to share her words. During that meeting, we connected on a profound level, sharing our poetry and encouraging each other. It was truly serendipitous, and a moment I will carry in my heart forever. Thank you to my dear friend and trusted advisor, Dr. Vicky Basra, and the incredible staff at the Delores Barr Weaver Policy Center, for creating such meaningful spaces. Before we parted, she told me, “I truly hope this isn’t the last time I see you.” I assured her, “It will not be and thank you for trusting me with the honor of sharing your words.” #SeeTheGirl

Eff them people!!!!! You are living your purpose and you are doing more than they ever will and they hate that. Do you, be you, LOVE YOU! The love we (the ones who love and appreciate you and your art) have for you will drawn them out.
