04.03.2026 21:41 β π 0 π 0 π¬ 0 π 0I wasn't wrong. THE BRIDE! is Jessie Buckley's NORBIT. But unlike Ed-DEE's faux pas, it won't cost her the Oscar.
04.03.2026 20:14 β π 0 π 0 π¬ 0 π 0
Walking out of the screening room, I thought THE BRIDE! was TURRIBLE! But at the same time, there's something about it that softened that original assessment of the movie.

Why not Timothee? Because his performance sucked, Hollywood Reporter. They wouldn't do this for a Black actor. Nobody is writing "Why not Michael B. Jordan" or "Why not Delroy Lindo."
What bullshit.
Everybody I want to know already knows the story.
04.03.2026 19:14 β π 1 π 0 π¬ 2 π 0Man, I hope I'm in Boston the day RFK Jr. shows up. I'm just imagining him getting pummeled with Dunkin Ice coffees while guys with thick Bahston accents cuss his ass out. I hope the Globe lets me cover this story.
04.03.2026 18:33 β π 8 π 0 π¬ 0 π 0I literally got my ass whipped as a 5-year old over FANTASIA, so I'll never vote for that (plus, I can't stand that movie). This Grumpy is voting for Snow White. Vote for whatever your heart tells you!
04.03.2026 18:23 β π 0 π 1 π¬ 1 π 0A photo of the movie "Tyler Perry's Temptation" on my TV.
That time I turned on my hotel TV in Boston and Tyler Perry's worst, most offensive movie was on it!

I did not care for PIXAR's AVATAR, I mean, HOPPERS.

Ok this is some funny shit right here:

04.03.2026 01:56 β π 1 π 0 π¬ 0 π 2Didn't those pesky DEI Black folks Target hates come up with "Tarzhay" in the first place? I wouldn't come back to shop at Target if they offered glory holes shaped like their logo on aisle 5, and had free $20 bills shooting out of a mannequin's ass on aisle 9.
03.03.2026 20:46 β π 10 π 2 π¬ 0 π 0Whoo whoo whoo whoooo!
04.03.2026 01:33 β π 5 π 0 π¬ 0 π 0I wish the McDonalds CEO had done what Krusty the Clown did when he had to take a bite of a Krusty Burger.
04.03.2026 01:31 β π 6 π 0 π¬ 0 π 0One of those theaters is closing here in Jersey, too. I think they said 97 people would be laid off.
04.03.2026 00:01 β π 1 π 0 π¬ 1 π 0I cover events at indie theaters up there from here. And I show up on occasion. I did 2 events in Boston last month. I am moderating a Q&A up there this month. I write about local festivals, too. I do not have to be IN Boston or be FROM Boston to cover these things. It's provencial bullshit.
03.03.2026 23:41 β π 2 π 0 π¬ 1 π 0I don't recall Brian or Chaz demanding that I live in Chicago during the 11 years I wrote for Roger's site. So, what's the difference here?
03.03.2026 22:44 β π 7 π 0 π¬ 1 π 0It confuses me how readers think that I, the film critic, should live in Boston and be a Bostonian (and White--let's not forget that). Movies are not local news. What the hell does my location have to do with me doing my job? If I were the sports guy, I could see the argument. But movies? Nah, fam.
03.03.2026 22:43 β π 16 π 0 π¬ 2 π 0I say "youse" because of the Jersey in me, and "y'all" because practically every-fucking-body in my family older than my Mom came from the South.
03.03.2026 22:18 β π 2 π 0 π¬ 0 π 0OLIVER! is on cable now. I once thought that was the WORST Best Picture Oscar winner (that's no longer true). Yes, I've seen every single winner. Flipped by as the Artful Dodger was singing "Consider Yourself." When they showed us this dreck in fifth grade, I thought it was "consider yourself a ho."
03.03.2026 21:51 β π 2 π 0 π¬ 0 π 0Didn't those pesky DEI Black folks Target hates come up with "Tarzhay" in the first place? I wouldn't come back to shop at Target if they offered glory holes shaped like their logo on aisle 5, and had free $20 bills shooting out of a mannequin's ass on aisle 9.
03.03.2026 20:46 β π 10 π 2 π¬ 0 π 0I've written articles I look back at and go "damn, I fucked that up" or "geez, I could have done that a little better." But, I've yet to put my name under something I'm ashamed of writing. I've turned down pitches that misrepresented me. I don't know how some writers sell their souls for a byline.
03.03.2026 19:20 β π 17 π 1 π¬ 1 π 0I hated it when it came out too (and still dislike it), but this is a great article about BLUE VELVET and the choices Isabella Rossellini made in that film. A must-read.
03.03.2026 19:10 β π 8 π 1 π¬ 1 π 0I'm too old to have any nostalgia for THE LION KING. Outside of its opening sequence and bitchy RoarPaul's Drag Race runner-up, Scar, I haven't much love for the movie. But Pinocchio scared the crap out of me nearly 50 years ago when I first saw it. So that's where my vote went. Vote your heart!
03.03.2026 19:03 β π 7 π 1 π¬ 0 π 0Congrats!
03.03.2026 18:59 β π 1 π 0 π¬ 1 π 0I did the Q&A with the director at last year's Newport Film Festival. I can't review the movie until it comes out in Boston on 3/20, but I liked it a lot.
03.03.2026 18:54 β π 2 π 0 π¬ 1 π 0
Maybe. But I knew those movies were bad back then, too. Still, I did write an article about great 80s movie songs.
