If the Olympic Games is not to be considered, then the 5th Major must be played be played in Australia and be positioned in the calendar at an appropriate time when currently the PGA Tour of America and the DP World Tour are still active.

The new association of PING with Westport Golf Club goes from strength to strength. In the blink of an eye, we find ourselves at the final qualifying round of the year on this crisp Autumnal morning. All roads will be leading to Westport on the shores of Clew Bay "where the back 9 is a page turner."

News that the American team may look for a $400,000 payment to play is a bad day for golf. From Seve’s inaugural win at Augusta to Christy Jnr’s 2 iron at the Belfry and all the Irish Major victories; if the Ryder Cup pay for play is confirmed, I for one won’t be following golf to the dark side.
