Photographer. Long career getting longer! Currently finishing two bodies of work about communities—a nonprofit in Canada, a hospital in Sub-Saharan Africa. Oh yeah! Three books published by Black Moss Press, Windsor. Can you dig it! www.douglasmaclellan.ca

I photographed migrant workers picking grapes in the county, a long term political encampment in my home town and made two books on homelessness, the scourge of towns and cities everywhere in my country. 2 of 3

When I was a young man, I grabbed a camera, a bunch of film and went into the world. I photographed movie stars at film festivals, game seven of the Stanley Cup Finals at Madison Square Gardens and a heroic Canadian doctor tackling AIDS in Africa. 1 of 3

The current premier called an early election to take advantage of two situations—a national crisis caused by the US president and a weak opposition. This premier deserves a greatly reduced minority government—at best.

Street photography is fun and challenging. But I've been making more and more images of inanimate scenes. They are good but I always like the human presence. I'm speaking from a perspective of a 45+ year career of almost exclusively photographing people. But I really like my visual compositions.

What is the value of the still image, a digital still capture, these days? I'm not so sure and I've been on the case for 46 years!
About this digital still capture: Landpeary Park, Windsor, Ontario, 2025.
Stratford Via passenger train station, Ontario. Boarded construction area, someone holding a child, a person on the right standing and waiting. Train has just pulled into the station. Really cold outside in the early winter season.
Traveling quite a bit the last 11 months—Africa, Kitchener, Toronto, Vancouver. Some for professional photography, other for family reasons. That's unusual and happy to be on the road (or train, in this case.)
