tbf, virginia opossums are the only marsupials in the US/Canada so theyre most peoples only frame of reference over here. Even the south american species are mostly just brown tree dwelling rat things. not our fault yall got to have the fun ones..

lrt I was born in Oregon and I very much hope to return there someday. I want the forests to still be there when I do. it is fucking ghoulish to even suggest cutting them down for "logging".

Old temperate forests are insanely rare nowadays and extremely important ecosystems lost forever once cut.
They're not just "old trees" but intricate networks of trees, fungi and all kinds of living creatures.
