I put together this video for last year's #MARCHintosh. The caps in my ImageWriter II/L (the last in the line... more RAM, plus a switching PSU) finally gave up.

A while back I made a video where I figured out how to run the built in ROM diags on a Mac SE/30 over its serial port. I documented the work and some smart folks have turned that work into an easy to use program that anyone can use:

I think the community rewards a little whimsy. May is such a busy month for folks in general. School ends, Summer begins, various in-person vintage computing events popping up on the calendar all fighting for people's attention.
And being a tent pole in March is better than a tent stake in May.
We workshopped the name and got community feedback who thought it best to not crash into established events like Star Wars and Kaypro (MAYpro). May is a much busier month.
Since March didn't have a well established vintage computing event, that was that.

Port statistics showing 1921 packet buffer overflow errors and 94.7% network reliability

Apparently my router box froze up at some point. Never had that happen in previous years. I'm also seeing a reasonably high number of "Packet Buffer Overflow" errors reported in the statistics, also something I didn't see before. Anyone have any thoughts?

Macintosh Plus with 4 MB of RAM and running MacOS 7.1.
Macintosh 476 used as an AppleTalk gateway, awaiting a microSD card with the correct image on it.
Wires found, everything connected, Mac Plus troubleshot and booting, AppleTalk gateway offline … misplaced the drive for it and haven’t found the right image yet 😆 #MARCHintosh

Billgoats has a Thunderscan. A scanner add-on for an ImageWriter printer that uses the printer’s carriage to scan a page. I printed this on his StyleWriter 2500 printer, located in the Orkney islands, over GlobalTalk. He scanned it and printed the scanned image on my ImageWriter over GlobalTalk.

The insides of an InageWriter II dot matrix printer with a PCB inside - that’s the ImageScribbler card.

It's a #marchintosh miracle! My late 2005 Mac Mini decided to allow me to reinstall Tiger. The DVD drive is a goner but I used a random CDRW/DVD combo drive from an old laptop. Ordered a working slot load replacement drive tonight too.

At some point this week I'll boot up the Powermac G4 and explore the #GlobalTalk, #marchinitosh is already heating up with my printer getting some workout already and the Dropbox getting filled with new, fun files.
I'll also have to get around to restoring the GlobalTalk Grafana dashboard...
