Self portrait day

Three devils, all with blue skin and purple horns, are dressed as witches. From left to right: Zoh is dressed as Gandalf the Grey. She wear a light blue hat, a grey cloak and robe, brown boots, and a brown satchel hangs from her shoulder. Zoh wears an ill-fitting beard, she has dyed her hair to match the color of the beard, it is normally orange-red. Her earring has a ‘G’ at the end of a short link. Zytila is dressed as an interpretation of the Baba Yaga. She wears a tattered blue dress that is patched with white, red and blue patches. Under it is a light pink shirt that is loose and baggy, the sleeves are rolled up above the elbows. On her arms and legs, she has affixed tufts of whitish-gray hair, she has also dyed the hair on her head gray. Zeteg is dressed as the Scary Godmother. They wear a black low-cut long-sleeve leotard, grey puffy skirt, green and purple striped leggings, purple heels, and a black witch hat with purple and green stripes. They have dyed their hair orange to match the character’s original hair color. All three devils sit on the rim of a mortar, a pestle sits inside. They are high above the clouds at night, stars dimly glow in the background. Above them the words “Happy Halloween” are seen.

The spookiest day hath cometh.

The first panel has one of the devils dressed as a werewolf, he shows his sharp teeth and claws toward the viewer. He has wild brown fur on his body and sports a headband with wolf ears attached. In the next panel the second devil appears, she is wearing a lab coat, black gloves, and a pair of goggles hangs around her neck. She has gold earrings that spell “DOC F”, a reference that she is meant to be dressed as the notorious character Victor Frankenstein. She grabs the first devil, her husband, from underneath his jaw to caress his face. The husband is caught off guard and his menacing hand falls limp, he is blushing and the ears on his headband have lowered, showing she has pacified him. She smiles at the state she has put him in.

Sketch of Lupin the Third in a sketchbook.

Lupin the Third! No cooler character exists. This is actually the first time putting pencil to paper in this sketchbook. But it's nice to add a step to the workflow. The pencils allowed me to be more purposeful with the ink likes rather than sketching in ink.

Rex and Ana, both bloody at naked, stand into of a large creature. It has 11 eyes that are clustered together on the top of its short, crocodile-like face. In its lipless mouth are exposed gums and gnarled teeth that are inconsistent in size and sharpness. The neck of the creature has loose wrinkly skin that folds over itself. The limbs of the creature are mostly human-like in structure, they sit on the torso similar to a canine’s forelimbs, however. The torso is also closer to a human’s, on the back of the creature sits a saddle; leather straps loop around its shoulders to keep the mounting apparatus stable.

Rex carries Ana as he continues to run through the streets of Darsov [Hell], she then asks a question, “Rex, do you… have a plan?” “Nope,’ he answers, with an overconfident smile. Ana’s face of concern turns into one of annoyance, “You’re just running to nowhere?” The couple then have an exchange, Rex starts with Ana following afterwards: “Hey, we barely had a plan for the bank heist! And that went fine!” “…We’re DEAD.” “Which happened AFTER the heist was a success!” “It’s only successful when you get away and LIVE!!” “Nah.” “You’’re so full of—” Rex turns a corner and before Ana can finish her sentence a ghastly sight reveals itself. Several eyes stare at them, the muscle around the unblinking orbs is exposed, and the surrounding skin is uneven and wrinkles unnaturally. The sight halts both feet and words, they stare up in shock and disbelief. Ana softly finishes her sentence, “Shit.”

Rex breaks through all the chatter by shouting “ENOUGH” as he pushes all the speech bubbles out of his way. He points an accusatory finger at the crowd, “Shame on you! Perving FREAKS!” He kneels down to scoop up Ana from the place she sits, the crowd reacts to his harsh words: “‘Freaks’, huh? Wow….” “You’re the naked one.” “Dickhead.” “You weren’t that hot anyways.” “Yup.” “I mean I’ll pay still?” “Ha, butt!” Rex runs off carrying Ana, the group of devils react to him one final time: “Oh, he’s running off now.” “Dude, wait here!” “Bye.” “You’re still naked, dumbass!!”

The crowd of devils consists of individuals of various sex and gender identities, their words and voices all blend together. Some of the things Rex and Ana hear go as such: “Yo.” “Tight bod!” “Now that’s a fresh find!” “Mmh.” “Think she’s bi?” “‘She?’” “Say ‘hi’ to her for me!” “Damn <3” “Can we call ‘dibs’?” “I’ll clean ya, babe!” “With my tongue maybe!” “What? Ew.” “Dude, relax.” Rex uses his own body to shield Ana, the crowd quickly turns on him: “HEY!!” “BOO!!” “DICKHEAD!” “Ha, dick!” “I missed it?!” “what a RIP OFF!!” “I’M LATE FOR THIS?!” “JUST ONE MORE LOOK!” “FUCK OFF!” Rex jeers at the group of devils, they begin to remark at his attempt at exuding a menacing presence: “Ooh, so scary…” “Be for real.” “Well, I wanted to see HIM.” Rex is taken aback by the last comment, the crowd continues: “I’m glad someone finally said it!” “Same!!” “He’s a whole naked man presenting!” “Mmh<3” “And he’s FIT!” “Love some man meat!” They begin to get out of hand, he is in disbelief at their forwardness: “wouldn’t mind slamming him all night!” “Or slamming ME!” “Them jungle gym bars gonna BEND!” “Huh?” “Mmh.” “You can bring her too!” “Nah.” “C’mon, I’ll pay you two well!” “Wait how much?!” Rex is overwhelmed as the group begins to louden as more people get involved in the various conversations.

Looking down, Zio sees Zimpa lying in the blood, her angry frowning face is exaggerated to accurately represent her feeling of anger. “Sorry Zimpa…” Zio says as he covers his face, trying to stifle his laughter at the sight of his displeased friend. “Stop giggling,” Zimpa says between her teeth. Rex grabs his arm to see his mangled limb regenerate at a rapid rate, “Healing… Just like—” he is unable to finish his thought when he hears Ana shakily cal his name. He looks up to see a crowd has formed in front of them. Zimpa and Zio slink off across the street, Zio is laughing out loud at his dejected friend.

Zio and Zimpa stand above the recently splattered Rex and Ana, Zio is covered in blood and his hair is ruined; Zimpa has avoided the blood geyser. They have an exchange, Zio starts first with Zimpa following after: “Yeesh.they hit the ground hard.” “A bloody mess.” “Yeah…” “Crap luck to fall here.” “Concrete really turns you inside-out.” After a moment Zio asks another question, prompting another exchange: “You think they’ll fuse together?” ‘Only SKIN can do that, Zio.” “This was my favorite skirt…” “Your bloody hands ruined my outfit too.” “You jumped into my arms—” Zio is unable to finish his thought after Rex and Ana shoot up suddenly from the bloody pool on the pavement. He recoils with a scream and accidentally drops Zimpa, plunging her into the blood.

The sight Zio looks up to is Rex and Ana speeding towards Zimpa and himself. Before he can react the couple hit the pavement so hard an explosion of blood erupts from the place they landed. The shockwave from the sudden stop knocks Zio’s hair backward and jostles his glasses. Unknowingly, Zimpa cartoonishly jettisoned into the air from the shock and avoided the wave of blood that drenched her friend. Zio catches her unwittingly as he’s rocked from the horrifying event, they look like Shaggy and Scooby-Doo after a scare. Zimpa has an irritated expression on her face, “Maybe SAY somethin’ next time?! Zio! Ugh…”

Two devils walk together on a city sidewalk, the one in the foreground wears an office blouse, skirt, tights, and a set of armless rectangular glasses. His friend wears an office button-up, slacks, and round armless glasses; she carries her jacket folded over her arm. The first devil looks upset and worried as his friend begins to talk, “Cheer up, Zio! It’s door-to-door! Everyone quits.” “We were fired, Zimpa,” Zio responds, not finding comfort in her words. “Semantics,” Zimpa continues as Zio stops after noticing a mysterious black dot on the sidewalk. “So what if we unloaded sin at work? It’s not OUR fault they didn’t read the terms!” Zio doesn’t seem to be paying attention as she talks, “Zio, dude. You hear me?” Zio’s face drops after looking upwards.

Rex and Ana attempt to float towards each other, once close Rex attempts to grab her hand; he misses. Ana quickly snatches his wrist before he can accidentally wriggle himself out of range. The couple are above a massive metropolitan city, beyond the city are massive jagged mountains. In the sky is a thick circling haze that partially imitates clouds, it obstructs the craggy stone ceiling that Rex and Ana just broke through. A small shaft of light can be seen emanating from the ceiling, it is where Rex and Ana came from.
