I don’t think they are a good look. It reminds me of Boris Johnson.

If they were totally effective you mean? That’s not what you said first time.

Haha

It’s corruption. Brazen, plain corruption.

Yes a lot of people stop smoking for health reasons.

07.08.2025 18:22 β€” πŸ‘ 0    πŸ” 0    πŸ’¬ 1    πŸ“Œ 0

Yes sorry I was not referring to you but people in general. It’s a huge public health issue and it is being swept under the carpet.

I don’t doubt you are extremely educated and wish you the best in your recovery. These drugs obviously help a lot of people but we need to make everyone aware of the danger posed by the food they eat. We all need educating on the dangers of UPF. I think most obesity is caused by poor diet.

podcasts.apple.com/gb/podcast/z... Have a listen to this if you have time. I believe this is the world’s leading research scientist on UPF. Some of this is mind blowing.

But you could get rid of the cravings if you educate them on the health issues that arise from eating PF. It makes you feel hungry when your body does not need food. Anything eaten in that state gets stored as fat.

PF has also been linked to depression, anxiety and other disorders. It’s poison for the human body, we’ve not evolved to digest it. Food that physically shrinks the hippocampus in your brain should set alarm bells ringing. It’s a matter of time till it has to carry health warnings like tobacco packs

07.08.2025 18:01 β€” πŸ‘ 0    πŸ” 0    πŸ’¬ 0    πŸ“Œ 0

I’m glad it has helped you.

Processed food is responsible for the majority of obesity. It tricks the brain into thinking we are hungry when we don’t need food, we feel hungry and eat more which is stored as fat. Worldwide, processed food already costs more in health intervention than tobacco. It also shrinks the hippocampus.

Or just teach people to eat properly? The food industry makes them obese and extremely unhealthy then the healthcare industry helps them lose weight, both profit.

Corporations/ big business should be paying more tax. Someone from the CBI on R4 this morning complaining that making big business pay a fairer/ higher tax would stymie growth and jobs, they always play that card though and it’s a lame argument. We need a government that stands up to corporate power

I also think the UK finances are not going to improve anytime soon. Brexit has hamstrung us in a big way, it’s been an unmitigated disaster.

16.07.2025 13:53 β€” πŸ‘ 1    πŸ” 0    πŸ’¬ 1    πŸ“Œ 0

I agree with what you’re saying, I think we need both, long and short term strategies. Where do you think the govt could free up money from to give to people to spend?

It’s amazing what hatred does to people’s ability to rationalise.

Totally agree. A safe route is the only answer and the right thing to do.

The water companies are crooks, they each have hundreds of convictions for breaking the law, award themselves huge pay rises, borrow to pay dividends to shareholders ( which they should ) get bailed out at our expense and repeat again . It’s a huge scam and we’re paying for it.

11.07.2025 21:38 β€” πŸ‘ 1    πŸ” 0    πŸ’¬ 0    πŸ“Œ 0

You do need to invest in the future though, and that means borrowing. Our infrastructure is knackered to a large degree. Water, rail etc should be nationalised.

11.07.2025 21:35 β€” πŸ‘ 1    πŸ” 0    πŸ’¬ 2    πŸ“Œ 0

We need politicians who are not terrified of having a grown up conversation about it. Instead we’re locked in a race to the bottom where most people seem to think it’s better to pay less tax and at the same time moan about the state of healthcare, education etc..

11.07.2025 21:32 β€” πŸ‘ 0    πŸ” 0    πŸ’¬ 0    πŸ“Œ 0

Personally I don’t think we pay enough tax in this country. I’d be happy to pay more tax if there was greater transparency around where the money was spent. We could all have better public services, what not to like?
