it's daft. the whole point of the neurodiversity movement is to point out that people's brains are diverse. adhd / autism / ocd type symptomns can easily appear in people who would not meet the threshold for a clinical diagnosis.

implying that whatever theyre suffering from isnt real sucks

we focus so much on the things that set us apart sometimes, i see a lot of nd people strawmanning nt people as identical people who all fit in to the world perfectly, sleep 8 hours a night, never embarass themselves socially, always fit in and get ahead.

basically, what 00s emos would call "preps"

yes, adhd/autistic people are likely to struggle with these sorts of things more. but we don't know the lived experiences of others, and i've always found the assumption that your paticular suffering is unique and special to be the height of self indulgence.

really not a fan of the kind of neurodiversity discourse that frames the things we struggle with as unique, markers of tribal identity, and i've been seeing that a lot lately. Neurotypical people also struggle to sleep sometimes, find noise overwhelming, etc.
