Beautiful aurora last night on Maia’s aurora tour in Fairbanks, Alaskaβ€”the cloud forecast was 100% and for three guests, this was their last night here after three nights of snowstorm. This was a great first aurora for them and now they can go home successful!

I was so excited to get this shot of the rare Black footed Albatross. Their wing span is 6-8 feet & they pair for a lifetime.

There are only 300 of them here in O'ahu, #Hawaii

The mist has cleared above the tree line bringing Winter’s blue sky into view. Mid tree line the mist is heavy and only visible because of the Suns rays flowing through creating a burst of morning light.

Pleiades: The Seven Sisters Star Cluster apod.nasa.gov/apod/ap26022...
A long exposure from a dark location reveals the dust cloud surrounding the Pleiades star cluster. The featured 18-hour exposure, taken from Bory Tucholskie, Poland covers a sky area several times the size of the full moon.

Beyond dense layer,
Solar stars burn wild and free,
Lustrous rays cascade

Pigment clouded waters muse,
Inward embers glow dazzling.

After the picture description, l have written a poem inspired by this shot.

This is a dramatic black & white landscape photograph of open countryside beneath a vast, turbulent sky.

In the foreground, wild grasses & leafy hedgerow plants grow thick and untamed, their textures sharp and tangled.

Just beyond them, a narrow dirt path curves gently from the left side of the image & sweeps into the distance, disappearing into a broad field of low, uniform crops. The field stretches wide & flat toward the horizon.

Along the middle distance, a line of mature trees forms a dark boundary between land & sky. Their rounded canopies appear almost silhouetted against the light breaking through the clouds.

But the sky dominates the scene. Heavy, layered storm clouds roll and billow across nearly three-quarters of the image.

They are dense & dramatic, with deep charcoal shadows and streaks of lighter grey where sunlight struggles to break through.

The clouds feel low & pressing, as though the air itself is heavy with anticipation. The contrast between the dark sky & the pale field below gives the landscape a sense of tension & quiet resilience.

The overall mood is powerful & contemplative, a moment just before rain, when the world holds its breath. Finally, our picture is finished with a simple white border frame. And now for my poem..

 I call it…Navigating the Storm

The path bends softly through the land,
A quiet ribbon drawn by steady hand.
Above, the clouds in fury rise,
Great shadows marching through the skies.

The wind may press, the light grow thin,
And thunder murmur deep within
Yet still the earth beneath our feet
Holds firm where doubt and courage meet.

For storms will gather, dark and wide,
And hope may seem a shrinking tide,
But like that road through field and seam,
We curve, endure, and keep the dream.

No sky can rage forevermore,
No night but yields to dawn once more
And every storm we travel through
Carves stronger paths in me and you.

A grey heron stands upright on a dark harbour rail in warm light, its long neck relaxed and yellow eye alert. Behind it, softly out of focus, a small gull perches on the pointed top of a white navigation marker, creating a layered composition with the heron sharp in the foreground and the gull blurred against a smooth brown background.

I'm right here! Beam me up!!!
How lucky these moss covered trees are finding themselves in the path of light. Grateful ferns and ivy absorb the lights essence breathing in, breathing out. The white water flowing between the forests add a symphony of rhythm, pulsating amid the rocky run. A tune for the ages each note a song, a moment that will never be again.
