I spent a year in Kuwait in the late 90s. We had a communication site on Mutlaa Ridge and rats were a huge problem. We had s small pack of local dogs we sort of adopted as ratters. This is one of them in our tent. We fed them bacon and eggs from the hot rations we got in the mornings.

You’ve pretty much described every Army reunion. I’ve gone to reunions of several of my units over the past three or so years. They’re all pretty much the same. Daytime: excursion. Evening: dining out, Night: Great debauch.

I try to imagine the fortitude it took to climb into one of those things night after night. A steady stream of lost ships and missing mates, yet still they flew. They served and sacrificed for all of us.
