I still remember the first time I heard βLondon Callingβ in 79. It blew my mind.

25.11.2025 17:21 β π 1 π 0 π¬ 1 π 0Thanks much for sharing these images. World War I art is a fascinating topic. The variety of styles by official artists, to me, is such a powerful statement. Thereβs everything from near-abstract art to social realism.

I love the atmospherics in this sketch. It hearkens to the labour that was a never-ending part of the soldierβs life in the #GreatWar. #LabourCorps #fwwhist #ww1 #WesternFront
Youβve been kidnapped. The characters from the last TV show you watched are coming to rescue you. Who is coming to save you?
Answer: Alex Levy from The Morning Show
Iβm confused with the title. Is it Shellstorm, or Shellshock?
24.11.2025 01:10 β π 1 π 0 π¬ 1 π 0The optimist-pessimist conflict is a classic trope in probably every army in history.

23.11.2025 19:39 β π 0 π 0 π¬ 0 π 0I spent a year in Kuwait in the late 90s. We had a communication site on Mutlaa Ridge and rats were a huge problem. We had s small pack of local dogs we sort of adopted as ratters. This is one of them in our tent. We fed them bacon and eggs from the hot rations we got in the mornings.

23.11.2025 19:25 β π 1 π 0 π¬ 0 π 0Were these duplicate battalions formed with drafts of the older battalions, or completely new formations?
23.11.2025 19:24 β π 0 π 0 π¬ 1 π 0I have to tell you. What youβre doing here on bluesky is so impactful. Itβs hard to fathom the scale of loss in the war. Yet, every day, you show the faces and names of the fallen. Thank you so much.

23.11.2025 18:51 β π 1 π 0 π¬ 1 π 0Itβs a joke. Anytime you see a picture of soldiers wearing protective masks, somebody always says, βHey, I know those guys!β
23.11.2025 18:48 β π 2 π 0 π¬ 1 π 0Reading about the #WW1 British Army, I see quote a few unit battalion designations like the one in this screen grab. What does a battalion numbered 2/15, 1/3, etc., mean exactly? @fourteeneighteen.co.uk @sommephantom.bsky.social

23.11.2025 18:41 β π 1 π 0 π¬ 1 π 0Youβve pretty much described every Army reunion. Iβve gone to reunions of several of my units over the past three or so years. Theyβre all pretty much the same. Daytime: excursion. Evening: dining out, Night: Great debauch.
23.11.2025 18:39 β π 1 π 0 π¬ 0 π 0Take a half hour out of your time to watch this short film about the young men who went to war in Bomber Command. I was more than misty-eyed by the end.
What really hit me was the comments. Thereβs still a well of sorrow for all of the brave young men who died in their heavies. #airwar
It shows you how ignorant the clueless magats are. Trump tells Abbott and Patrick, βGet 5 more seats for us in the House.β Did it not occur to any of these brainiacs that multiple blue states can play the same game?
I wrote to the Oregon Democratic Party and told them we need to do that here.
Itβs incredible how much non-traditional art was created to illustrate the First World War.
