Hard to believe August starts this week which means my July Blog is coming soon.

Must be Flying Ants Day. I love it when you see this spectacle of Gulls in the sky.

Where do butterflies go when it rains? 🌧️

Butterflies are pretty resilient to the odd shower but will often fold up their wings and crawl into the undergrowth or perch on a grass stem to stay dry.

They can still be seen taking advantage of the warmer temperatures and any sunny spells in between showers and thunderstorms. Some species such as Ringlet and Meadow Brown are known to fly even on overcast days!

Leaving areas of long grass, shrubs and ivy is a great way to provide much-needed shelter for these insects. ☂️🌿

I will be back Birding in September ready for the Autumn & Winter. Until then it is Garden Birding.

Today was pretty quiet Birdwise but it usually is at this time of year because they are malting new feathers after the breeding season but I could hear them. The only birds I saw were Magpie & Woodpigeon. This ends my Spring & Summer Birding outings for 2025.
