We partnered with an 11-18 secondary school in Kent who were determined to eliminate adolescent illiteracy.
📚24 of their students have now graduated from the programme.
📚The students gained between 2.5 years to 8 years in their reading.
📚The average gain was 5 years in 33 half-hour lessons.

Pupils who need additional help, including with phonics, receive this regularly. This is enabling pupils, including those who speak English as an additional language, to catch up.’ This week we saw several more students graduating from our intervention program having made several years’ worth of reading gains in a matter of months - sometimes even weeks. Reading is the key to our providing properly inclusive education. Working with ‘Thinking Reading’ has been so transformative for those who need the most support. 9. He stopped sitting alone on ‘his’ bench at lunchtime. He started interacting with staff and talking to canteen staff. I am honestly welling up a little writing this. A year on, Tom has a group of friends and he is smiling every time I see him.

8. Before Thinking Reading Tom sat on his own during lunch. We never heard him speak. He was isolated from his peers and from the staff.

About four months into the programme - as his reading progressed - he started going to the school library. He would always say hello to the librarian.
