Also, when it comes to responding to corporate emails, I don't care about AI usage, that's not a creative endeavor

Ah, so the whole "em dash is a sign of chatGPT usage" stemmed out of corporate emails??
Lets be clear. In normal conversation, yes the em dash is far less common. In novel writing, that's a different story entirely. 1๐ฆ
It's how well your book resonates with readers. While the other things matter and matter for a technically or mechanically great story, it has to resonate with readers.
13.04.2025 14:59 โ ๐ 1 ๐ 0 ๐ฌ 0 ๐ 0A good book doesn't boil down to how well it's written or how well the story is told. It isn't how surprising the twist is, how creative or in depth the magic system/worldbuilding is, or how fleshed out and developed the characters are. It's not the prose or the imagery in the words.

13.04.2025 11:20 โ ๐ 1 ๐ 0 ๐ฌ 0 ๐ 0I think about that advice a lot, especially as I obsess and revise my books seeking perfection. I sometimes wonder if material I updated would have been better left alone. Would readers like the older writing better even when I didn't? Am I too close to see it for what it is?
03.04.2025 03:55 โ ๐ 0 ๐ 0 ๐ฌ 0 ๐ 0Some of the best advice I've ever seen came from musicians. They were debating releasing "older" music because the newer music was more exciting to them. The producer said, "it's old and boring to you because you've been listening to it for years. To everyone else, it will be new and exciting."

Actual pro tip: the best way to break into any creative profession is by helping to support and advance other creators. Your peers are not your adversaries. They are your support group.

I'd like to thank Lion's Mane gummies for beating up my ADHD and helping me focus. I'd like to submit an addendum to my earlier request for help. I love that I'm now focused on cleaning and studying, but I want to focus on WRITING. Thank you
Looks like I'll be attending TBR Con as well in Knoxville

Anyway, now my wife is asking for her book back, which is kind of rude, considering our daughter rightfully stole it from her and gifted it to me. It's mine now. And I'm going to read it.
Merry Christmas...
๐ฆ 4
Casually flipping the book open, I land on page 256, the beginning of chapter 31. My daughter asks if I can read her a short piece from the book, when the word c0ck jumps out at me and I just look at her like...

The book in question was Silver Silence by Nalini Singh. It's... well it's not my typical read. In fact, it came from my wifeโs bookshelf (of the few books we have yet to collect from her parent's house).

She knows how much i enjoy books, so while at my MIL's house a week ago, she "discovered" the perfect gift for me... It was a book! A RED book, because it looked more interesting than the "blue" book (which I admit, I'm now curious to know what the other option was in this Matrix pill game)
A Christmas Tale
๐ฆ 1
My recently-turned-8-year-old daughter got me a gift for Christmas. Not with her own money, of course. And in hindsight, she was actually very economic with her gift giving, and thoughtful. However, the gift she got me was stolen.
Mission accomplished.
I have sold 69 audiobooks. Please, everyone, do not purchase a copy of my audiobook Armitage. Despite how amazingly well performed it is and how talented all 4 of my narrators are, the golden comedic sales number has been achieved.
