He did get $150k from people associated with the insurance industry, but if you look at the breakdown it doesn't look like it's mainly health insurers.

Agreed, but it illustrates how much money the people who profit from that industry are willing to spend to keep it going. Even if they had to put $3 trillion into an election to prevent a public option from being created, it would still just be a cost of doing business to them.

And that's not even counting the people involved in legitimate businesses that stand to reap huge profits from tax cuts.

All of these people are willing to pay to get someone elected if they'll get that money and more back immediately as a result of the election.

Same goes for coal mining, probably for oil, probably for a lot of the pseudoscientific "wellness" industry, etc. And the drug cartels, whose business model depends on prohibition. All these people need Republicans in power if they're going to keep making money.

If there had been a handful more Democrats in Congress during the time Obama was passing the ACA, we would have had a public option for a decade by now and the health insurance industry effectively wouldn't exist. That's a $1.5 trillion industry that would just be gone.

I think they simply don't consider anyone who's not part of the 1% fully human. He probably feels about as much remorse as a farmer does for not informing his livestock they're being raised for slaughter.

Honestly, if there's something to fault Democrats for, it's running Lieberman as a VP candidate. They fell for evangelical's lies that they actually cared about a President having an affair, when all they actually cared about was that this was something that could be used against a Democrat.

So 40 Republicans and the one worst Democrat are going to vote against something, and this is the fault of the other 59 democrats who voted for it?

Processing doesn't really have much to do with it. This is a result of crops absorbing lead from the soil. You'd get the same lead exposure if you bought those crops unprocessed and cooked them at home.

I remember you yourself reading out a letter on-air addressed to Martha Stewart that lead to her insider trading conviction, although when I tried to look it up later I couldn't find any reference to there having been a letter entered into evidence.
