This nation's Founders categorically rejected monarchy as a form of government in order to break out of that cycle. They wrested that prerogative from King George III in the American War of Independence. I hope we don't need to go so far to wrest it from an ersatz King Donald.

Maybe Donald doesn't know this, but the full quote he referenced is this: "The king is dead. Long live the king."
With the historical perspective we have in the United States, we ought to have a common understanding of what it means to depose one king only to raise another in his place.
