The Smallest Victims of Arsenic
How a Poison in Our Water Reveals a Missed Opportunity
The Smallest Victims of Arsenic
At lower doses, arsenic works slowly, quietly increasing the risk of lung cancer, diabetes, and heart disease. These arenโt rare outcomes; they touch nearly every family, often without anyone realizing that a poison in the water may have helped set them in motion.

You should probably read the lawsuit, "Plaintiffs have proven, by a preponderance of the evidence, that water fluoridation
at the level of 0.7 mg/Lโthe prescribed optimal level of fluoridation in the United Statesโpresents an โunreasonable risk of injury to health"... www.govinfo.gov/content/pkg/...

Op-ed: It is time to protect kidsโ developing brains from fluoride
Mounting evidence suggests fluoride may be hampering brain development and reducing kids' IQ. The US needs to rethink this exposure for pregnant women and children.

Fluoride wasnโt โgot rid ofโ for cavities โ it was removed because a federal court ruled it poses an unreasonable risk to the developing brain. Neurotoxicity > tooth myths.

If fluoride were truly โone of the most studied health issues in history,โ the U.S. EPA wouldnโt have just lost a 7-year federal TSCA trial showing that fluoridation at 0.7 mg/L poses an unreasonable risk to the developing brain, using the governmentโs own NIH-funded studies.

Fluorosilicic acidโnot a natural mineralโis whatโs added to most U.S. water. Itโs an industrial byproduct of phosphate fertilizer production, not โnaturally occurring,โ and it exposes people to a neurotoxic chemical, not just a cavity-preventing mineral.

โSafe for allโ is false. Studies show even the US-recommended 0.7 mg/L can harm developing brains. Saying โeverything is toxic at the wrong doseโ ignores that current exposure already exceeds safe levels for infants and children.

Fluoride isnโt a miracle. Countries that stopped fluoridation saw no spike in cavities, and dental health improved with modern care. Fluoride benefits are overstated, while neurotoxic risks to kids are ignored. Comparing it to seatbelts is fear-mongering, not science.

The 0.7 mg/L โsafeโ level is outdated and ignores modern science. People now get fluoride from water, toothpaste, foods, and beverages. Even at 0.7 mg/L, studies show neurotoxic effects in children. This guideline protects teeth, not brains.

Toothpaste only protects teeth while brushing, and not everyone uses it correctlyโor at all. Water fluoridation gives systemic exposure, which studies show can harm developing brains. Saying toothpaste + water is โmost effectiveโ ignores real health risks.

FDA restricted fluoride supplements because of safety risks to infants, not because someone โpushed a crusade.โ ADA objections are just old endorsements. Rural kids already have high decay despite fluoridationโso blaming this change is just fear-spinning.

The effects of a break in water fluoridation on the development of dental caries and fluorosis - PubMed
Durham, NC, fluoridated since 1962, had an 11-month cessation of fluoridation between September, 1990, and August, 1991. The purpose of this study was to assess the effects of this break on the development of caries and fluorosis in children. Study participants were continuously-resident children in โฆ
Not only did decay rates remain stable during an 11-month fluoridation break in Durham, NC, between September, 1990, and August, 1991 but dental fluorosis declined in children born during that period, according to the Journal of Dental Research. pubmed.ncbi.nlm.nih.gov/10728978/

A lot changed between your grandpaโs era and yours โ dentistry, nutrition, sealants, hygiene, access to care. We donโt pull teeth for every ache anymore. The FDA didnโt restrict fluoride supplements because they โworked,โ but because after decades there was still no proof they were safe or effective
02.11.2025 11:49 โ ๐ 0 ๐ 0 ๐ฌ 0 ๐ 0
A lot of us were put on fluoride supplements back then โ but thatโs exactly why the FDA finally reviewed the evidence. After 80+ years, there was still no proof they were safe or effective for kids. The new restrictions arenโt โridiculousโ; theyโre what happens when science finally catches up.
