Yes! I just learned that the Canadian indie dyer I’m working with (half down deposit paid), I may have a to pay 25% tariff on their product. Do I pass along the added cost and then watch the yarn sit on the shelf because it is too expensive or eat the increase? Sigh.

I tend to shape sleeves from the elbow down because that is how my arms are shaped. It looks odd until it is on me and then it looks natural.

I have another trick for especially large or skinny arms on circular yoke sweaters. I make a yoke size bigger than my bust size for large upper arms and then distribute the extra stitches to the arms. Same could be done for skinny arms and a smaller yoke. I check the math first of course.

Yes! All the time. It works perfectly. I measure front and back bust from the spot where a side seam would be and use that ratio to determine how many sts to put on the front and back. My ratio is 30/54 for the front. I’m planning on writing a tutorial for that soon.

Lets do it! A Knitalong to get the community going here on @bsky.app!

Start something new (or pick up an old project) using blue yarn, any shade and use the #SkyKAL hashtag to post progress or finished projects. We will let it roll until the end of February. To keep things simple. See comments…

Back of the neck shaping is very important. I won’t make or recommend a sweater without it.

I also think yoke fit affects how it feels at the neck, especially for those of us who are busty. Poor yoke fit can happen because one doesn’t account for front bust being larger than back bust.

Beautiful! And what an interesting construction.

I’m still feeling my way through Bluesky too.

Maybe it is a good thing that so many people have stopped following news outlets. Personally, I have zero capacity for chasing the sensationalism. Said by a former news junkie.

Absolutely perfect! This is how I feel to a T!

I've heard and seen a lot today about how to get through this. Here's my hot take:

1. every day is a gift.
2. joy is resistance.
3. community care is key.

We'll get through it because we have to. And because we have each other. Keep making your art and flaunting your humanity. ❀️

So pretty! And, once it is blocked you can show us how lovely it is (again)!

If it is a lot of rows, I frog until I have 2-3 rows that need to be undone. Then I tink as I put the needles back on my project.

I’m struggling with these things too. My solution is to bring more joy and love to my little part of the world. I can’t fix what is coming in DC or what is happening in LA the way I can impact my community. My strategy is action, however small. It adds up.

Just being willing to ask the questions and look inward IS action. You want change so much that it is keeping you up. Being uncomfortable is a good thing. It makes less room for complacency and apathy.
