Remember when Conservative gov said each high school student must do 2 online courses to graduate? It’s been communicated the class cap of 30 is used for funding instead of the 23. So we are “encouraged” to register all students. Hurting kids, cutting jobs & ⬇️ funding. #OntEd #OnPoli

Hope everyone has a restful long weekend before we start back and aren’t working too hard to prepare our schools for our amazing students!

We having an amazing relationship with a major builder who donated $ so we can upgrade our tech classes with tools, safety equipment and supplies for our students. They will benefit down the road by having more skilled employees & our students will benefit later too.

We don’t want our teachers having to tell their students today’s lesson was brought to you by Geico 🦎🤣. No disrespect to the corporations that donate & partners who fill these gaps in education. It is appreciated but it shouldn’t be this way.

When you are given a budget that is only expected to get back to the basics you are only going to get basics. Our students, families & communities deserve and need more than basics. You need to let your MPP know & vote. To build a strong society we need strong public ed

We need more EAs, CYW/Cs, Teachers to close gaps in learning & behaviour & mental health. We need social workers, psychologists, speech, hearing + more
staff to support our students. We need central staff to support equity, achievement & wellbeing.

If you watch the meetings you will hear about cuts for ex to social work & other staff that support well-being. We can’t get to “the basics” as we serve communities that need beyond the basics. We need prof services/spec ed

But my ad filled first two meetings is nothing compared to listening to our board budget meetings & seeing the on the ground impact. I encourage everyone to watch one from their board this year. Trustees & Senior staff trying to decide what items need to be cut due to $ cuts

An insurance company was given time to speak at both, as well as 15+ shout outs during the meeting. The director address explained without them the meeting wouldn’t have been possible due to budget cuts.

I am really worried for the state funding of public education (& have been for a while under this government). Our back to school meeting was hosted at a school (no cost for venue) & a second meeting on safety. I felt I was watching a YouTube video with unskippable ads …

We can’t stop equity work, slow it down or shut it down just because a group experiences discomfort when reflecting on their role or power in marginalizing another group. Learning & human rights shouldn’t cater to the resistors. #OntEd
