For real, if you're serious about drawing there's all sorts of great places to start, but if you're just starting out, child or otherwise? The best way to start drawing is whatever makes you want to draw. I printed Dragonball Z pictures off Geocities and copied them and look where I am now

Honestly I have 4 unfinished fanfics for every one that ever makes it online, sometimes I take years to write them, I only do it when I feel like it, and since it's mostly gen I know most people aren't gonna read it anyhow. It's cozy!

I write fanfiction under a name maybe two of my closest friends know and it's almost exclusively gen

I saw Children of Men in theatres and my reaction was "that was fantastic and I hope it wins awards and it ruined my day and probably my week and I never want to see it again"
