The dog... the real clue is the tag on his collar. The rest only made sense after I got it!

12 is good - it's a tough year! I needed a couple of clues, so very happy to share if anyone needs any.

People of London! PLEASE SHARE. I lost my necklace last night (10th Nov), and I'm hoping someone has found it. I caught the Northern Line from High Barnet to Leicester Square, then walked to the Prince Charles Cinema, then the same back again. I only noticed it was gone when I got home.

I think it’s important to talk about how being a mother can affect your writing time, though. In my case I can say I had a very supportive and self employed husband who did a lot, but I still wrote most of my early books between 11pm and 1am when no one would interrupt me.

Is this it? Are we finally en route to fix the timeline???

Reading is food for your mind. Like food, different reading choices serve different purposes. Some books are read for pleasure; some to satisfy a need. Some are like junk food; great as long as that's not all you eat. Some help to counter an imbalance in knowledge or experience. Variety is the key.

It's the last week of October (and it's almost Hallowe'en), which means it's also the last week of The Unrecovered being Waterstones Scottish Book of the Month! Probably worth another boost then, and available here:

I'm so glad there are still publishers in the world who'll publish wonderful, quiet books like Leonard and Hungry Paul, and equally glad there are companies who will put them on television. What a lovely lovely thing.

I spend a year plotting a mystery novel and then this happens.

If there is any better feeling than the one you get when suddenly you KNOW what your next book is going to be, I have never experienced it. This is the best part of fiction. There is nothing one moment, and in the next breath there is a book, waiting to be written. Magic. ❀️

That very much depends on whether you can enjoy terrible things. The script is bad but the acting is good, it's packed with tropes but is hugely entertaining, the last episode needed about 20 minutes of exposition to explain everything but the ending was very satisfying. So... yes?

Normally, when I'm all fired up about a new book, I don't watch much TV but I just binge-watched Nine Bodies in a Mexican Morgue because I could not look away.
