When applied to voltage recordings from epileptic rodents, our framework showed that most seizures are noise-induced.

This aligns with recent experiments, challenges the popular opinion that seizures are bifurcation-induced, and could inform future seizure therapies.

We model seizure onset as different types of critical transition and present a new framework to classify seizure onset in voltage recordings accordingly.
