Amazes me how many β€œexperts” have gone mad posting about #send reform and all they have done (or used AI) is summarised yesterday’s news. Then when you dig deeper it all they actually do for most of their posts. Nothing original, none if their own words or ideas.

Best quote I’ve seen today about the #sendreforms is β€œwe don’t fix the kid to fit the system, we fix the system to fit the kid”. Not sure that is going to happen. Arbitrary targets such as halving the gap is just nonsense and won’t work.

Interesting! Doesn’t this actually mean that only 10% read published books for pleasure. They read plenty, but not books…

β€œThe nebulous and esoteric nature of defining play as a concept can be a challenge but it is essential that we do so, because it is through play that children construct a sense of meaning about the world around them.”

There is an excellent article published by the Chartered College of Teaching. Well worth a read. The evidence shows that they are most effective if they are a constant source of reference for pupils during a lesson. I’ll try to find the link for you

1) how do we end up with water droplets at the top when the source of the water was at the bottom?
2) why is it β€œinflating”?

β€˜Experts’ suddenly popping up all over #edusky about the @ofstednews.bsky.social changes to single word judgements. So here’s a no expert summary to save you the pain:
1) no overall judgement but still single word judgement for 4 categories
2) β€˜report card’ to be introduced from 2025 - details TBC

Ian McDaid My thoughts and what's important for teachers out there today.

To all those students who received their GCSE results today - Well Done!!

Your results do not define you. They will shape your future in conjunction with many other factors. This happens all through life.

Enjoy today, celebrate your success and look forward to your next steps.

Add ice-lolly licking to England primary school curriculum, urge scientists β€˜Essential experiences’ recommended to improve science education include kneading dough and planting vegetables

This matters so much, and when the time comes as many teachers as possible need to respond to any consultation sent out by @beckyfrancis.bsky.social regarding science in her curriculum review

One week in to my new #edusky adventures and mute button taking a hammering today toxic characters begin to migrate from where they were once silenced. I will not let this happen again! It’s enlightening when you check who they have already blocked from seeing what they are stirring up again!
