Given how Twitter filters worked, I also unchecked "misleading" content or "conspiracies" because again, these are flags conservatives use to spam legitimate news reporting, thus keeping you from seeing it if you have these filters on.

I will also note that these filters, as seems inevitable, wind up only filtering liberal leaning content. I have seen plenty of violent videos of ICE agents kidnapping people, despite pretty much every filter being on when I checked my settings. Apparently conservative violence doesn't count. 🙄

Remember that people do abuse these tags to keep you from seeing content they don't like. You may think you don't want to see threats but conservatives flag anything hostile toward their Great Leader as threats, for example. Keep that in mind as you pick your filters.

Some of the filters are useful and you may want them. I do have sexually explicit content hidden bc I got tired of seeing porn in my news feed, it's not what I use bsky for. There are filters for content that may be triggering, too.

But you probably want to turn off the "rude" filter, among others.

This means if you are in the habit of saying things like "fuck Trump" or "I hope Cheney burns in hell", probably a good amount of your feed isn't seeing those posts because, unbeknownst to them, Bsky has shielded grown adults from "rude" "threats" like this.

The "service" includes settings for hiding certain types of content, warning you that the skeet contains such content before you see it, or simply turning off the filter. If you've never been here before, you'll find things like "rude" or "threats" are set to "Hide".

Next select Settings, and then Moderation on the next screen. At the bottom of the Moderation page under "Advanced" is a section called "Bluesky Moderation Service" that looks like an info box. It in fact leads to more settings.

Here's how to turn it off.
