I donβt think any other activity I have done has had students clapping and jumping out of their seats in the same way. Which may say something about the rest of my class π

Iβm going to have to start a list and do some exploring.
We need to chat more!

Me too. Iβm curious about how I can use more games with teacher teams
13.12.2024 17:02 β π 0 π 0 π¬ 0 π 0
I totally agree about the ways in which games provide a different entry point for kids! I need to check out multi.

This has me thinking about how I can potentially use games in my coaching work. Another bite size piece like routines that can be used to lead to other conversations about teaching and learning. Any thoughts?

Other games we played that were a hit: Shut the Box, Capturing Rectangles from Building Fact Fluency for our session on multiplication and Find a Place from the book Nsights for our session on decimals. If you have favorite games, Iβd love to hear about them!

Students playing prime climb
I tried something new with my elem methods class this semesterβending each session with a game (many thanks to @mathematize4all.bsky.social for the inspiration!). I need to finish grading before I can reflect on things but one thing I know for sure is that it brought joy into my class every week.

𧡠So, hey there #edusky! π A while back, I posted an angsty blog about how difficult it is to engage in meaningful work on teaching practice when the systems are breaking down all around us. Excerpt and link below. tjzager.com/2024/09/21/c...
