Thing is, despite the terrible results, you can see what he's trying to do and how it could, just maybe, be really really good. That makes this situation different from the end days of Mourinho and Conte, and even Poch. Much too early to sack him now.

I think you're right, but it also feels like the problems are more psychological than stylistic - in tight games they seem unable to come out on top. I wonder if this is down to the youthfulness and inexperience of the team, or a lack of conviction in their own ability or in the manager's approach.

Not sure about that. Decent in the first half but couldn't step it up in the second and never really looked like scoring. Subs were made too late, when the game already seemed to have got away from them.

Now they are at last trying to rebuild, with promising signs amid the inconsistency, a bit of patience is needed - not a kneejerk reaction to their first heavy defeat this season.

Wrong to say Spurs "could have had" Diaz (tried but were gazumped by Liverpool) and Slot (wanted him but he turned them down). And Spurs have had 'serious' managers in Mourinho and Conte - look how that turned out.

I don't know if it's arrogance or naivety, expecting a B team to beat a good Championship side away. Looks like a repeat of last season v Fulham
