Art is a connection between people, the artist, crafter, creator, and whoever comes in contact with it. It’s what drew me to clay and ceramics. The long standing history with a medium than spans the ages of humanity. It has soul and connection.

Art is humanity and we don’t need to forget that.

What I create is not soulless. My art is not mass produced and spit out to be a forgotten trend and rapid depleted dopamine hit like AI content.

My art is handmade. I can’t readily produce it and the slow small batch production I do is all done by me and occasionally a studio assistant.

It’s soulless and another mass produced cookie cutter product. We won’t get into the environmental and morality issues with it. As an artist, it’s exhausting and makes me wonder what’s the point of my art.

Why bother?

I have seen so much AI “art”/ filters lately on my feed. It’s stolen Ghibli art impersonation being used as propaganda, action figures, and highly filtered profile photos. It’s products, homes, animals, and scenes that don’t exist.

AI is all over the place and I’m so tired of it.

Before and After Glaze firing, my experiment worked!

I mixed each Amaco celadon glaze with the glaze next to it in a 75/25, 50/50, & 25/75 % ratio. It was a time consuming process but well worth the experience! #ceramics #art #amacoglazes

I now have an iPad!

I’ve been hand drawing my coloring sheets, tracing them on a 1960s/70s light table with a sharpie, then scanning them.

This is going to be a game changer. I’m actually going to be able to make coloring sheets, stickers, and other ideas I want to explore for the BoOfriends!!

Ugh 🫠

I know things are about to get really really bad, yet I still have hope for a better future.

Why? Because I will never give up on fighting for it.

Celebrate the little wins, remember that joy is an act of resistance, and don’t be afraid to take breaks because this is a marathon — not a sprint.
