TIL that AB separatists would award you 10 points in your immigration application if you didn't get certain COVID-19 vaccines. Like if you got Novavax you would still get the 10 pts? How will this be checked? Can I just shout Freeeedom! for even more points? For more, google "The Value of Freedom".

At the first Ottawa Tool Library #repaircafé of the 2025 season I went 5-3-2, back to batting .500 again!

Finally got hands on a breadblaster (repair cafΓ© rite of passage), and it as a posh one...a Zwilling.

Drink a cup of kindness

In the new year, our sense of hope and optimism will be tested.

Some factions are already trying to convince us that β€œCanada is broken”. It is not, though it is due for repairs. Next door, Trump taunts Canada as the 51st state of America and a consequential tariff war. 1/5

Household items I repaired successfully: vintage guitar effect pedal, radio, blender, steam pan, kettle, fan, lamp, vacuum. Missed on the mixer, pressure washer, shop vac, other kettle. The radio was really cool and was brought from Egypt. Seemed to have sentimental value to the owner, so really glad I could fix the power switch.

Household items I repaired successfully: radio, LED floor lamp, clock radio, bluetooth headphones. Missed on the printer, iPhone, watch, stapler, and dremel. Loved giving the vintage Sony Dream Machine alarm clock a service. After 30 years all it needed was some contact cleaner.

I volunteer at the Ottawa Tool Library Repair CafΓ©s as one of ~20 fixer/menders. They are really well-run events, with many in attendance. I am currently batting .476 this year, with 42 tickets seen.

❌ = Not fixed (duh)
⚠️ = Advised on next steps, parts needed etc.
βœ… = Great Success! Very nice!
