It was a pleasure to share the stage w/ Parisa Alaei, Sophie Jenz, and Jenn Jakobi to talk about MUs from sex differences to clinical applications at the CSEP conference. We shared the challenges of HD-sEMG decomp in females & clinical importance of looking at MUs in Parkinson's & breast cancer.

I will be presenting some of our old/new work at the CSEP next week Friday at 3:40pm symposium session. If anyone is around and wants to see what we've been up to. 😊

The talk will cover MUs, radiotherapy in breast/prostate cancer, and exercise while on doublet therapy treatment for mCSPC.

A specific sex or gender can only be excluded from the study, when a clear and concise scientific justification is provided for this choice. This should be articulated in the introduction and methodology sections to inform readers of the rationale behind the study design.

😃 A new article published in J Biomech by van der Kruk shows a large disparity in female representation within Journal of Biomechanics studies published in 2024. A concern term biasmechanics is proposed to encourage efforts to address it.

We had a great meeting discussing our new study in collaboration with UW WELL-FIT looking at the impact of supervised exercise program on physical & psycho-cognitive function in men with metastatic castrate sensitive prostate cancer. Looking forward to data collection & findings!

I watched it last weekend. Thankful to the team for moving forward despite all the backlash!

When you start your research program at a community hospital, you're happy with any equipment you can get. The more portable, the better. 😁

I'm specifically interested in how cancer treatments affect muscle & what we can do to improve the quality of life for those living with & beyond cancer. I have a special interest in radiation treatment.
